The Flu

Whole 30 Month – Day 4

Many people have talked about getting “the Flu” when you try to do the Whole 30 for the first few days. This is where you have headaches, exhaustion and possibly even muscle soreness. They call this your body “detoxing” from sugar and booze all the other crap W30 tells you not to eat. So far Day 4 was is the closest I’ve had to that.** I woke up exhausted, sore and headachey.

**Though it could very well be that I didn’t sleep well last night b/c the wind was whistling so bad through our window and apparently my hearing is on par with dogs’.  Couldn’t hear the whitenoise machine or the bathroom fan, but could hear the whistle through earplugs and under a pillow. So…who knows.

However, I was much happier with food choices today. Eric fulfilled one of his long-standing desires and bought a sous vide machine which has upped our bougie millennial percentage by about 20. All we need now is an air fryer….

Hey Eric! You want an air fryer right…??

Anyway, he made egg bites in tiny mason jars w/ the sous vide and they are sooooo much closer to the coveted Starbucks ones than when James tried to make them in the oven (Love ya, dude but those sucked…).

Dinner was Pornk Eggroll Bowls with chipotle mayo sauce on cabbage. So f’in delish.

The TLDR version

Things we learned while making egg bites:

  • Definitely oil the mason jars. They don’t come out otherwise.
  • Use almond milk
  • Moar salt
  • Ours had sundried tomato, sausage, basil & black olives in them YUM AF
  • They make great, quick snax

The Whole (30) story

Actually…I don’t have much today. It was pretty drama-free except for me continuing to hate my website and curse the sky. You guys, I’m not a web designer…sooooo much not…but I really need to be able to edit my website b/c I continually want to change it. Thus, I watch a bunch of videos and swear a lot….Being a broke writer is hard.

I’m starting to miss cheese and wine, but note even so much. Every so often I have an urge to go find a cookie, but it goes away pretty quick. I’ve only thought clinically about soda. Hint and Waterloo as well as water w/ lemon/lime seem to meet my flavored drink desire. And berries or a fruit leather take care of the sweet. Also I’ve rekindled my love affair with raisins…weird I know!

Lyndsie Clark

Hi! I’m Lyndsie! Writer. Artist. Linguist. Swordfighter. Cosplayer. Model. I grew up in Boulder, Colorado, the only child of hippie parents. As a bored extrovert, I spent a lot of time in my imagination. Encouraged from an early age to write stories, I immersed myself in fantastical realms and completed my first novel at 15 years old. I have learned much since then writing more epic fantasy and dipping my toe into modern science fiction. Nowadays, my creativity has taken a darker turn as I explore dystopian worlds and post-apocalyptic futures. My cyberpunk series, The Savant Uprising, is currently in progress. I am in the process of submitting the first book, In Memoriam, for publication. I love cats, the sun, and my crazy life. Come join me on this adventure!
